soul food.

"do not let your fire go out, spark by irreplaceable spark in the hopeless swaps of the not-quite, the not-yet, and the not-at-all. Do not let the hero in your soul perish in lonely frustration for the life you deserved and have never been able to reach. The world you desire can be won. It exists.. it is real.. it is possible.. it’s yours."

Ayn Rand

its important to go home to where one belongs and feed your soul once in a while. i cant stress enough the importance and the good it does one to return to where they belong, if even for a short while. we get so wrapped up in life, constantly moving, constantly working, not taking much time to stop sometimes and hear what our hearts have to tell us. we constantly starve and deny our hearts wishes, our raw truth. going home is like feeding your soul, making you feel like you belong somewhere. a sense of belonging is actually really important. and an experience we all need to remember to honor. what do you think?

ayn rand!? I like her writing but her ideas on gender roles are bogus. this quote however dearest samimi rang true.

i am really truly missing NH right now and I can't wait till august to spend a week at my family's cottage in the woods in peace. just me and some trees and lake water. and some good pals too (like you?...) every time i visit i am reminded of parts of myself that i tend to forget. that i do like nature, that i make a damned good fire, that i am still afraid of lake weeds, that i am an excellent sailor, that i know how to make jam and maple syrup candy, that i love farming and gardening. i used to think i would retire in the desert but more and more i see myself in NH. whenever i make it back home it feels like my bones can finally rest.

your post gave me goosebumps guster. so much of what you are describing about being on home soil strike such a chord with me too. there truly is power in being home, your bones can rest. and so does your spirit and mind. the chattering stops. one can take a deep breath and relax, feeling safe in familiar surroundings.

it probably doesn't hurt that we are from beautiful places...and not from, say, ohio. ;)

xxx.
