re. inspiration and centering

...you may have at one time or another wondered if you could do this or if you could keep up. The truth is keeping up is not what matters, instead just do what you love. Tell the story you want in the way you think it should be told . There is no mold or formula to success. Create what you want to see, work hard, and be nice. That is it. Things come together. Everyone has their own pace because we are all individuals. We all have our time and we all have our own places in this world and community. - Megan Gigler

i have had these quotes on different "stickies" on my desktop for so darn long now and i needed to re-read them today as i am making my final internal [and external] push to get my new website and shop done. it is crazy, the battle we sometimes have with ourselves to push forward, to delve deeper, to question our beliefs, challenge doubt. i have been thinking a lot lately about the notion of success and comparing ourselves to others. i honestly feel like there is no damn good in comparing yourself to ANYone else, because you are you, nobody else is you. one of my dear friends told me once that no one has your life, no one ever will - we will never had the same life as any other - and they cannot take anything away from you- your experiences, your failures, your successes...i have been thinking a lot about this and how truly honoring yourself by allowing your art in to the world is huge. i am so blown away by musicians and other artists who constantly put themselves out there, for the world to see, their deepest feelings, fears and thoughts - always out. in, out. out.

this may not resonate with you, but i was attempting to articulate why these selected quotes below are holding such a huge significance to me right now. i honestly think, what ever you want to do, do it. put yourself in YOUR light and shine, and God will be there to radiate down upon you. push through your fears and doubts - at all costs - to move forward to the great beyond.

Heed not your weaknesses and frailty; fix your gaze upon the invincible power of the Lord, your God, the Almighty … Arise in His name, put your trust wholly in Him, and be assured of ultimate victory.~ The Báb
Every life is unique in its sensations and intensity, its boredom and its restlessness. No human effort can hope to faithfully represent the experience of life, even of one’s own. The reality lives on in memory or heart, but the moment escapes. The arts live, in part, to reconstruct for our eyes, our ears, our spirits, the essence of experience and perceptions. Biography, if it is to reveal the essence of a person, must do the same.Dorothy Freeman Gilstrap, in her biography, “The Life of Dorothy Baker: From Copper to Gold”

I love this post. As a fellow Baha'i, I always think about how God manages to repeatedly confound and bewilder those who would put walls around His words, His Manifestations, and his Being without considering for a moment that God has no problem walking through walls.
